Schloss Gabelhofen, Fohnsdorf (Austria)

Project overview:

Schloss Gabelhofen is an old chateau in Fohnsdorf, Styria and it was extended by seminar and exhibition facilities situated directly next to the old castle wall on very steep terrain. To allow for the new construction, an up to 8 m high underpinning of the approximately 500-year-old wall and the two towers was necessary. For the annexe itself a well foundation was applied.

  • Design of the conventional underpinning (with one horizon of ground anchors) and the temporary support with shotcrete and soil nails
  • Specifications for the analysis of the deep foundation
  • Elaboration of tender documents for underground works
  • Geotechnical site supervision during construction
